Integrated Pump Station: What It Is and How to Select the Right Model

An integrated pump station (also called a packaged pump station) is a prefabricated underground unit that combines a tank, submersible pumps, guide rails, valves, a control panel and a lid into one factory-assembled product. It replaces the traditional concrete pumping chamber, saving construction time and eliminating leakage. This guide explains how an integrated pump station works and what parameters to confirm before ordering.

Core Components

The tank is usually made of GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) by filament winding, corrosion-resistant and watertight. Inside are one duty and one standby submersible sewage pump, auto-coupling guide rails, non-return valves, slide rails, a stainless steel ladder, and a fiberglass cover. The external control panel runs the pumps by float switches or ultrasonic level sensors and alarms the operator on high level or pump failure.

Key Selection Parameters

ParameterWhat to Confirm
Peak Flow RateL/s or m³/h, based on contributing population / catchment area
HeadVertical lift plus friction loss, in meters
Tank Diameter & Height1200-3800 mm diameter; burial depth by site
Pump Power0.75 kW to 75 kW; duty + standby recommended
Level ControlFloat switches (cheap) or ultrasonic sensor (more accurate)
MaterialGRP tank, stainless steel 304/316 internals, cast iron pumps

Why Choose an Integrated Station Over Concrete

MetricIntegrated GRP StationConcrete Pumping Chamber
Installation Time1-3 days4-8 weeks

Total Project CostLower for small-medium flowHigher with civil works

Typical Applications

Integrated pump stations are used for domestic sewage lifting, stormwater drainage, flood control, industrial wastewater transfer, and water supply boosting. They are especially useful where the sewer line is below the incoming pipe, or where a compact, low-odor solution is required in urbanized sites.

Installation Notes

The tank must be set on a reinforced concrete base with lifting lugs used only for handling. Groundwater level must be checked; if the tank sits below the water table, an anti-floatation anchor or concrete backfill is required. The cover should sit flush with the finished ground level, and a vent must be provided to prevent odor buildup. Power and control cables should be in separate conduits.

Conclusion

An integrated pump station chosen to the correct flow, head and burial depth removes the risk of traditional concrete chambers and cuts installation time dramatically. Hebei Jinyang Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd. supplies GRP integrated pump stations from 1200 mm to 3800 mm diameter, with pump selection drawings and control wiring diagrams included.
