How Do I Select the Right Size and Type of FRP Tank?

Selecting an FRP tank is a matter of matching capacity, geometry and wall schedule to the stored medium and installation. Use the checklist below, or send us the data and we will size it for you.

Step 1: Define the Capacity

Capacity is based on the required storage volume. As a rule of thumb, add a 10-15% freeboard at the top for foam, vapor and liquid swell. For example, a 10 m³ tank should have a nominal working volume of 8.5-9 m³. For continuous process tanks, confirm the residence time required by your process rather than just total volume.

Step 2: Choose Vertical or Horizontal

Step 3: Confirm Nozzles and Connections

List every inlet, outlet, overflow, drain, vent, manhole and level nozzle, with flange rating (PN10/PN16, ANSI), diameter and position. This avoids costly retrofitting after the tank is made.

Step 4: Specify Resin and Wall

Tell us the stored medium, concentration and maximum temperature. We will select polyester or vinyl ester and design the wall thickness (including the corrosion barrier) to the relevant standard (GB/T 14363, ASME RTP-1 or BS 4994).

Step 5: Installation Conditions

Note whether the tank is above ground, underground, indoors, or exposed to sunlight. Groundwater level, seismic zone, wind load and road traffic (if buried under a driveway) all affect the design.
